Officer Luis Carcano

President

I am Luis Carcano, a dedicated law enforcement officer with over a decade of experience serving my community. My career began in 2015 when I graduated from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Academy, marking the start of my commitment to public safety.
In 2019, I transitioned to the Santa Ana Unified School District, where I currently serve as the School Resource Officer assigned to Santa Ana High School. In this role, I focus on fostering a safe and conducive learning environment by building positive relationships with students, staff, and the community. Beyond enforcement, I strive to mentor and guide students, helping them make positive life choices.
Additionally, I serve as an Explorer Program advisor, mentoring young individuals interested in law enforcement careers. Through this program, I emphasize integrity, responsibility, and community service, empowering future leaders to succeed both personally and professionally.
Looking forward, I am honored by the opportunity to serve as President of the Santa Ana School Police Officer’s Association. In this leadership role, I am an advocate for my fellow officers by promoting healthy collaborations and maintaining the professionalism of our membership. By maintaining these standards, it will allow us to enhance our collective service to the community

Detective Brian Singer

Vice President

Detective Brian Singer began his career with the Santa Ana Unified School Police Department (SASPD) in 2013. Throughout his tenure with SASPD, he has served in a variety of critical roles, including Field Training Officer, Terrorist Liaison Officer, Explorer Advisor, and School Resource Officer. He is currently assigned to the Investigations Bureau, where he continues to demonstrate his dedication and expertise.
In 2014, Detective Singer was honored with the department’s Lifesaving Award in recognition of his actions and commitment to protecting the community.
In addition to his investigative duties, Detective Singer serves as the Vice President of the Santa Ana School Police Officer’s Association. In this leadership role, he advocates for his fellow officers and supports the mission of promoting professionalism, collaboration, and community engagement.
Detective Singer’s dedication, leadership, and commitment to public service make him a valued and respected member of the SASPD.

Danny Rodriguez

Treasurer

Officer Danny Rodriguez joined the Santa Ana Unified School District Police Department as a Police Officer in January 2011. He is currently assigned as a patrol officer for the department. During his tenure with SASPD, Officer Rodriguez has worked as a School Resource Officer, Field Training Officer and Police Explorer Advisor. Officer Rodriguez has also worked as a Gang Reduction and Intervention Partner with the Orange County District Attorney's Office, (OC GRIP), which is a law enforcement partnership that identifies at-risk youth and aims to increase school attendance and decrease gang activity.

Officer Rodriguez is also an active volunteer with the Santa Ana Federal Credit Union as a sub-committee member to the credit union's board of directors. Additionally, he is a volunteer Treasurer and member of the board of directors for Civic Center Barrio Housing Corporation in Santa Ana, a non-profit organization that provides housing to lower income families in Orange County and San Diego County.

In 2021, Officer Rodriguez was elected by his peers as the Treasurer for the Santa Ana School Police Officers’ Association.

Officer Chris Mireles

Secretary

Officer Mireles began working for the Santa Ana Unified School Police Department in 2013 and brings 20+ years of law enforcement experience. He is a graduate of the Rio Hondo Police Academy Class #158 of 2001. During his time at the Santa Ana School Police Department, Officer Mireles has served as Detective, Field Training Officer, Explorer Advisor, Orange County GRIP Liaison, Terror Liaison Officer, Emergency Medical Technician, and Defense Tactics Instructor. Officer Mireles is currently assigned as a School Resource Officer at Saddleback High School. Officer Mireles has an Associate’s Degree in Administration of Justice, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminology, and Graduate work in Behavioral Criminology. Officer Mireles has been serving as the SASPOA secretary since 2025.

Kit Nguyen

Sergeant at Arms

Officer Nguyen began his career with the Santa Ana School Police Department in 2012 and is currently assigned to dayshift patrol. During his time with SASPD, he has served in several capacities to include Explorer Advisor, School Resource Officer, GRIP Liaison, and is currently the Department Armorer. Officer Nguyen is also currently serving in the US Army where he served as a Combat Engineer, Drill Sergeant and Human Resource Specialist.
